From various Heraldic & Armorial Sources
by David James McGeachie - FSA Scot.
Illustrated below are the Armorial bearings of the surname McGeachie, as recorded in the Register of all Armorial Bearings in Scotland (the Lyon Register), The Office of the Chief Herald of Ireland, early Heraldic manuscripts, along with other armorial bearings listed in other sources for those whose arms are not of Scottish or Irish origin. On this page it is only the shields which are illustrated; the full achievement (including the crest etc.) will eventually be shown along with perhaps a short biography on individual pages dedicated to each armiger.
These arms are a perfect illustration of the way in which all new grants and matriculations of Scottish arms try to follow and reflect the “chiefly” or “stem” arms. We can see that the Scottish McGeachie Arms are predominately based upon a Sable, (black) shield, with a Argent (silver) chevron, between in chief two gillyflowers each of five petals, and in base a chrysanthemum of twelve petals Vert, (green) fimbriated Or (gold) - Once familiar with the composition of the McGeachie coat of arms, it is possible to recognise others.
